Change Facebook name ت to add symbols, or fully hide FB names

Hi! If you want to find out how this looks - view my Facebook page (right now it's "Ihor 유 Menshykov") in which I have successfully got my surname hidden with the use of symbols. I've successfully tried to put ⌛ ╚╝╔╗⋆ヅッ 웃 유 Ü ت ␛ symbols in my facebook surname before. Not all at once though, cause "You can't mix symbols of different types". These were just ones of symbols that I've tried to put there, meaning there's much many more of them available. In this article I'll explain how I put those characters in my surname and help you to put some in yours.

EDIT: Recently, some policy changes were made by FB, and this reference doesn't count some of them.

Facebook menu to configure your name

Go to your Facebook account settings.
To do that, follow my link or check FB's top-right menu "Account" for "Account settings" button.
Click "change" that stands above your current name.

Now you can and should see menu where you are able to change your first, middle and last name. If you just want to alter one of them - you're there. If you want to add there some special symbols, like in my "All text symbols for Facebook ϡ" - read on.

How to add symbols into Facebook name

To start off, you can be sure that symbols [⌛ ╚╝╔╗⋆ヅッ 웃 유 Ü ت ␛] work. So it's your luck if you found among them some symbol you'd like to put in your name. If no, try to find some in All text symbols for Facebook ϡ. If you want to make something like "ƝÒƅƪȩ", or "ωιΤΗΘυΤ ΘΠΞ", check out characters from Foreign language Letters and try changing some characters from your name/surname to the ones you like. I'd recommend you to try them 1-by-1, so when some error occurs, you know what's causing it.

If you'll try to simply put some random symbols into your FB name - you might run into errors. But if you'll know what's causing the problems - you'll succeed faster. Of course, always keep in mind that not all symbols can work for you.

Common errors:

You may not mix character types within one word.

Facebook banned multi-language words. Because there happen to be no names that start on English and end up on Ukrainian, etc. Some symbols like ツ ت happen to be on some Arabian, etc languages. It's suspicious when you use them in English words.

The name contains too many words.

There happen to be no names from 5 words, you know..

Your name change request has been rejected by our automated approval system.

As I understand, Facebook staff have banned some symbols and words from usage in names.

The name contains invalid characters.

Had this when I tried ¡. Some characters are just not supported at all. When I copied it into "What's on your mind?" - Facebook ignored the whole message that I wrote it in. Even though, some Facebook users still have some of those characters in their names. But that's just because they've put them there before Facebook banned those symbols.

You must provide your real name.

I got this when I tried my name as "Say-twice Say-twice". I think they say this when they feel like you're taking them for fools.. ;)

Name change request submitted.

That's not an error. If you get this then you might have a big chance. Go to your Facebook homepage to find out if your name was approved. If it wasn't - you still might have a little chance that it will get approved some time later if you won't change your name before. Maybe, even after a couple of days. But the chance is small - that after-a-couple-of-days thing happened only once to me.. =)

But don't quit!

Some symbols, like [⌛ 웃 유 ╚ ╝ ╔ ╗ ⋆ ヅッ Ü ت ␛] in my surname, haven't been blocked. And, of course, these are just the ones I've tried. There's much many more of them. To find the ones, you'll have to try. When you'll make it, please-o-please, post your new names in "My question". Or, at least, symbols from them. Share! Cheers! ^.^

Hide your Facebook name

I'm not sure if there is a good reason for this, but you can hide it. And you can hide all of it - both: first name and surname. Take a look at my second Facebook account (it's full name is "웃웃웃 ヅヅヅヅ"). To turn your FB name into symbols just change the whole name into one type of symbol. Like on the screenshot below.

Try using symbols that your friends do, the way they do. That should help, cause Facebook has same rules for everyone. If you'll finally menage to put them into your fb name - post those symbols and how you did that in here, okay ^.^ Hope this helps.

Yeah, like I said, α is Greek - you can't have both Greek and English letters in your name.

The thing is if you can't change it to some name - you won't be able to. You just have to try some other names. And to be honest, I think you've really put wa-a-ay to many symbols in your desired name ^.^ Too cool sometimes seems a bit stupid, really.

Sometimes you can only surpass the errors if you try another username. In this article I've explained what can cause some errors. This was like "know your enemy" thing to help you filter out some usernames by yourself (without trying) and understand the system better.

Yeah, middle name is a tough thing can't figure it out myself. Though, those people you're talking about probable have just "[symbol] Surname" as they're surname.

I've tried to put a ⋆ star in my name too and it worked. I'm not sure if you can set any star in there, but this one worked for me. I've put it in my SURNAME like "⋆ Menshykov". Remember to put a space between and try other stars.

Yes. Just try different symbols. Not all of them are considered invalid.

Remember that you should change surname ("Last Name"), not name ("First Name"). If you were trying [-Surname] then try [- Surname]. It worked for me that way.

Probably, some symbols have been blocked from some time after your friends have put them in their names. And though they aren't deleted from old names, they cannot be used anymore. Cheer up and try some other one ;)

Of course, the problem may have been because you have put that symbol in some wrong place in your name where you shouldn't have put it. Meanwhile your friend have put that character in the right place...

Nope. I've seen a guy get banned from changing names for 2 weeks, for changing their names in such way. Risky stuff =(

Just wanted to let you know wat worked for me. I went to start, accessories, system tools then character map. I was able to change the letters of my name to make it look different but facebook still would not let me enter any of the symbols from character map to my name. I have not given up though ;)ƮґƲȡí Ɲơƅƪȩ - thats what I make my name look like, which is something anyway ha-ha and it did take me a few tries before Facebook accepted certain letters.
